NYCN ANAMBRA LAUNCHES “OPERATION YOUTH ECONOMY” TO ADVANCE SOLUDO’S EMPOWERMENT AGENDA

In a continued effort to empower young people across Anambra State in alignment with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s vision, the State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Anambra State Chapter, Amb. Surv. Emeka Obi, today launched Operation Youth Economy at the Council Secretariat/Youth House in Awka. 


The initiative marks a major step towards strengthening youth participation in the digital and economic spheres.

The meeting had in attendance the 21 local government Cordinators of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), including the state executive members cum National reps.

Speaking during the launch, Amb. Obi reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that Anambra youths remain digitally equipped, productive, and forward-looking. 

He emphasized that empowering the youth remains a core promise of his administration and assured them that the program would open new doors for economic growth and innovation among young people in the state.

Amb. Obi further explained that the initiative aligns strongly with Governor Soludo’s broader agenda for youth development. 

He commended the governor for prioritizing young people across various sectors and pledged the full support of the Youth Council to the administration.

According to him, the Council will continue to complement government efforts in building a future driven by skilled, self-reliant youths.

The Operation Youth Economy program is designed not only to empower young people with digital and entrepreneurial skills but also to prepare them to compete globally. 

Amb. Obi noted that the world is moving rapidly, and Anambra youths must be equipped to meet emerging challenges, create opportunities, and sustain livelihoods through self-employment.

A major highlight of the meeting was the election of a new Coordinator of all Coordinators (C OF C'S) of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter. 

The process saw Comr. Uchenna Ejeri , Orumba South local government Coordinator emerge as the new leader, a development that was received with applause and optimism by members present. 

His emergence is expected to strengthen coordination and enhance the overall impact of youth-centered programs across the state.

The Mayor of Orumba North Local Government Area, Capt. Barr. Casmir Nwafor (Rtd), has extended his warm congratulations to Comrade Arinze Clems and Comrade Uchenna Ejeri on their emergence as Coordinators of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) for Orumba North and Orumba South respectively.



In his message, the Mayor described their emergence as a renewed mandate for grassroots youth leadership and a call to purposeful service, in line with the objectives of the NYCN as enshrined in the NYCN Establishment Act. He charged them to uphold the values of the Council—discipline, patriotism, service, and advocacy—and to serve as effective bridges between the government and the young population they represent.



He urged the newly elected Coordinators to champion youth empowerment initiatives, promote civic responsibility, and collaborate closely with local authorities in addressing issues affecting the youth across both LGAs.


Capt. Nwafor also commended the State Chairman of the Council, Amb. Surv. Emeka Obi, and the entire leadership of the NYCN Anambra State Chapter for conducting a transparent and peaceful electoral process that strengthens the Council’s credibility and democratic values.


"The National Youth Council of Nigeria remains the statutory umbrella body for all youth organizations in the country. Strengthening it at the local level is key to sustainable youth development, social inclusion, and community-based growth," the Mayor stated.


He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to support youth-led programs and deepen engagement with youth stakeholders across Orumba North in line with the Solution-driven vision of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.
